Biography

Cornelius Smith was one of four Black Civilian Conservation Corps youths of the Cohasset camp near Chico, California arrested in 1935 for "assault with a deadly weapon" after defending themselves from a racist attack; the ILD defense reduced the case to suspended sentences.
