Biography
Corliss Lamont was an author and civil libertarian indicted for contempt of Congress in 1953 after refusing, on First Amendment grounds, to answer Senator McCarthy's subcommittee. His case became part of the broader First Amendment resistance to congressional investigations during the McCarthy era.
