Biography

Brittany Martin is a pregnant mother of four whose brother was murdered by police in 2016. During the George Floyd protests Martin led chants of no justice no peace and reportedly said to an officer, "We ready to die for this. We tired of it. You better be ready to die for the blue. I'm ready to die for the black." despite no violence occurring at the protest, prosecutors charged martin with inciting a riot and threatening officers lives. She was acquitted on those charges and only found guilty of breaching the peace. A crime normally punishable by no more than a $500 fine and 30 days in jail but due to the judge claiming the offense was a "High and aggravated" crime it allowed them to enhance her sentence far beyond its normal maximum penalty and sentenced Martin in 2022 to 4 years in prison.
