Biography
Betsy Graves Reyneau (June 6, 1888 - October 18, 1964), later Betsy Graves Reyneau Ortmans, was a portrait painter and was a member of the National Woman’s Party and one of the "Silent Sentinels" imprisoned during the 1917-1919 campaign to picket the Wilson White House for woman suffrage. Some derivative image metadata gives her birth year as 1889; Smithsonian and biographical records support 1888.
She was arrested on July 14, 1917 and sentenced to sixty days at the Occoquan Workhouse. President Wilson pardoned the July 14 prisoners on July 17, so she was in custody about three days.
