Biography
Belle Sheinberg was a member of the National Woman’s Party and one of the "Silent Sentinels" imprisoned during the 1917-1919 campaign to picket the Wilson White House for woman suffrage. Her date of birth is given as October 12, 1895 in one biographical record and as July 18, 1895 in another; the year 1895 is consistent but the day is unresolved, so no birthdate is recorded. Her date of death is unresolved.
She was arrested on November 10, 1917, held again on November 13, sentenced on November 14 to thirty days, and transferred to the Occoquan Workhouse on November 15. She was released with the remaining prisoners on November 27 and 28, about thirteen or fourteen days into the sentence.
