Biography

Archie Crawford was a nineteen-year-old sentenced to thirty days and denied medical care in the San Francisco general-strike terror of July 1934. The San Francisco general strike of July 1934, growing out of the West Coast maritime walkout, was met by police and vigilante raids that swept up hundreds of radicals across California; more than 450 were arrested and many held or beaten without charge.
