Biography
Annie J. Magee was recorded among the members of the National Woman's Party jailed during the 1917-1919 campaign to picket the Wilson White House for woman suffrage. Doris Stevens's appendix gives her term as five days in January 1919.
Two identifications have been proposed and neither is established. Inez Haynes Irwin's history names a "Katherine Magee" arrested on January 27 and sentenced on January 28, 1919 to five days; whether that is the same woman as Annie J. Magee is not documented. Separately, Annie Josephine Stirlith McGee Jackson (May 4, 1873 - April 26, 1934) has been suggested as the person behind the name. Neither link can be made safely without a court or jail ledger, so no dates of birth, death or custody are recorded here and the two candidates are deliberately not merged into this record.
