Biography
Alicia Rosenbaum, a twenty-one-year-old stenographer, was arrested with W. E. Spear and Ed Burns in the April 22, 1920 police Red Squad raid on the IWW office in Seattle's Globe Building. A contemporary Swedish-language newspaper identified her explicitly as "Alicia Rosenbaum, alias Alice Rose"; the IWW's own later reporting used Alicia Rosenbaum. The defendants were held for investigation and called toward trial in June 1920. Spear's case was dismissed in January 1921, but no verdict or dismissal notice specifically naming Rosenbaum has been found, so her disposition is unresolved. A 1924 IWW notice identified "Alice Lloyd, also known as Alicia Rosenbaum" — evidence of a further alias, not proof of marriage or a legal name change. Her reported age puts her birth about 1898 or 1899, which is not independently verified, so no birthdate is recorded.
