Biography

Alfredo “Lelo” Juarez was stopped in his car while driving his partner to work on March 25, 2025. ICE agents forcefully detained him without a warrant after smashing his window. Juarez has been a lifelong activist, helping found the independent union organization, Familias Unidas por la Justicia, when he was 14. He advocated for farmworkers' rights. Following his detainment, ICE arrested dozens of other workers for allegedly lying about their work authorization. His arrest was based on a 2018 court deportation order. An order that he claims to have no knowledge of.
