Biography

Al Fisher was a West Coast woodworkers' union official arrested in 1954 on his way to picket duty during a strike and charged with falsely signing the non-Communist affidavit required of union officers under the Taft-Hartley Act. Subjected to two trials and two appeals and facing five years, he sought review in the Supreme Court.
